As an art director at M&C Saatchi Digital, I had the opportunity to work for several clients in the field of social media and digital advertising. One of these clients was the German supermarket brand LIDL.
As part of a team of copywriters, content creators and designers, we were tasked with creating fun and engaging social media content. My job was not just to design Facebook or Instagram posts, but to come up with ideas that would bring people closer to the brand through digital advertising. One of those ideas I came up with was the LIDL Sneakers. This was created as an April Fool’s Day post, but due to the high engagement there was no doubt that it had to be produced and generated good PR buzz for the LIDL brand.
That’s why I never underestimate the power of a good idea, no matter how simple it is or where it needs to be displayed.
